• IMO A 752(18) published in 1993 by the International Maritime Organization, requiring low location lighting system on board passenger
ships carrying more than 36 passengers.
Installation recommendation:
• Continuous way-finding photoluminescent safety sign should be installed in stairs, exits, escape doors, etc., above 300mm ground level, including
escape route in corners and cross.
• All exits should install such safety signs, within 300mm from the bottom side of door handle.
• All gangways, except those which separated by corridor and doors, should install such safety signs in the wall within 300mm above deck or in the
deck from a distance of 150mm to the wall.
• For those corridors whose width exceed 2 metres, continuous safety signs should be installed at both sides.
• Direction arrows should be used combined with other safety signs for those one-side corridor, directed the open side of the corridor every 1 metre.
• Safety signs should be installed at least in one side , 300 mm above the stairs. Make anyone easy to understand the position. Obvious safety signs
should be installed to indicate at the top and bottom end of the stairs.
• Safety signs should be used to indicate all kinds of fire fighting equipment, safety equipment, important pipeline,doors, valves, etc.
• For Low-location lighting system, the width of the safety signs are at least 75mm.
